One time I asked my pops what he was doing,
he said, "I'm dodging raindrops."
Dancing like he didn't care.
(Dancing like he wasn't there.)
Look, one thing they taught me is stay optimistic.
Getting lost in negative thoughts is a sickness.
See the sun, think the storm missed your district?
Downpour hits, gotta react with swiftness.
Ceiling leaking. Someone's gotta fix it.
No matter how quick, soaked like predicted.
Cold start blowing through your clothes like it's fishnet.
Shit gets real. You miss old days.
That's when people get pistols raised.
Or pop a pack of pills, put them in the grave.
I can't relate, nah, I probly went insane, I'm like,
"Go ask Cobain why I'm dancing in the rain."
One time I asked my pops what he was doing,
he said, "I'm dodging raindrops."
Dancing like he didn't care.
(Dancing like he wasn't there.)
And amidst the commotion, life comes like a swift breeze.
To shift trees horizontal and smash like the blitzkrieg.
But stay up, and lay up nice, and watch the world spin.
It's life, and when it's rocky, mine out the raw gems.
You'll find em. Refine em. Design em into an essence.
That reminds you of beauty you thought never lived in the present.
It's a shame, cuz underneath the rain we're all the same, and it's strange, surviving's like finders keepers for the sane.
And when its strange remain strained for the gains.
Always stay unique and never change and yet your never plain.
See, I wish that we could realize and give this gift back,
that gave so much of this love. I feel that is rap.
One time I asked my pops what he was doing,
he said, "I'm dodging raindrops."
Dancing like he didn't care.
(Dancing like he wasn't there.)
I get it, exist minute by minute.
Escapism is keeping us in it.
Incentive is not to get sent to prison.
So grin and bear it.
Choose what to cherish. I look at life and try not to compare it.
Rare situation we're here to inherit.
Breathe air 70 odd years and perish.
There's water everywhere, but I still don't care yet.
One time I asked my pops what he was doing,
he said, "I'm dodging raindrops."
Dancing like he didn't care.
(Dancing like he wasn't there.)
